Myles Arakaki

Myles Seishun Arakaki, 99, of Kapaau died Nov. 28, 2015, at AnoAno Adult Residential Care Home in Kapaau. Born May 19, 1916, in Hawi, he was a retired machinist from the former Kohala Sugar Co. and member of Hawi Jodo Mission Kyodan and Kohala Okinawa Kenjin-Kai.

Friends may call at 1 p.m. Dec. 20 at Hawi Jodo Mission in Kohala for a 2 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.

He is survived by sons, Norman (Grace) Arakaki and Gerald Arakaki, both of Honolulu, Glenn (Yoko) Arakaki of Los Angeles; daughters, Rachel (Lance) Hirano and Joyce (Terry) Hamada, both of Pearl City, Oahu, Connie (Joe) Chun of Mililani, Oahu; brothers, Kenkichi (Tomiko) Arakaki and Minoru Arakaki, both of Honolulu, Kensuke (Minako) Arakaki of Los Angeles; sisters, Kikue Nakamura and Jean Matsuda, both of Kohala; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Justin Perry

Justin Masayoshi “Buddy” Perry, 38, of Keaau, formerly of Kula, Maui, died Dec. 13, 2015, at home. Born in Honolulu, he was a soil conservationist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture and founder of the Na Hoa O Puna Soccer Club.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. Dec. 19 to 10 a.m. Dec. 20 at Uncle Robert’s Awa Bar in Kalapana for an all-night vigil. Final funeral services and cremation take place on Maui at a later date. The family requests aloha or casual attire be worn and flowers be omitted, but lei are welcome.

He is survived by wife, Johanna Tolentino-Perry of Keaau; sons, Kalei Tolentino-Perry, Kahaku Tolentino-Perry, Kanilau Tolentino-Perry, all of Keaau; daughter, Kahinu Tolentino-Perry of Keaau; parents, Eugene and Lynne Perry of Kula, Maui; brother, Joshua Perry of Kula, Maui; sister, Jyl (Bobby) Estrella of Pukalani, Maui; paternal grandmother, Elsie Perry of Pukalani, Maui; maternal grandmother, Jane Morikawa of Lahaina, Maui; hanai son, Rylen Kaniaupio of Pahoa; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Julia De Sa

Julia “Martha” “Malek” Kealoha Pua De Sa, 87, of Honomu died Nov. 26, 2015, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Hilo, she was a retired bartender at the former Diamond Bar, Bar Havana and Anchorage Bar and was also a retired sales clerk at the former Keaukaha Cash and Carry.

Friends may call at 5 p.m. Dec. 21 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 6 p.m. service. Burial is at 10 a.m. Dec. 22 at Alae Cemetery. Family requests casual attire be worn. Flowers and lei are welcome.

She is survived by son, Gilbert De Sa Jr. of Ainaloa; daughters, Taryn (Leslie) LeeLoy of Hilo, Gilbernette (Roland) Shimaoka of Honomu, Colleen (Gary Cruse) De Sa of Pepeekeo; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; numerous nieces and nephews.

Miles Omura

Miles “Da Sheriff” Nobuyuki Omura, 70, of Ookala died Sept. 18, 2015, at Hale Hoola Hamakua in Honokaa. Born Aug. 27, 1945, in Honolulu, he was a retired master mechanic for Servco and honorary member of the Na Kane O Ke Awawa motorcycle club.

A service will be held at 2 p.m. Dec. 21 at Valley of the Temples in Kaneohe, Oahu. Online condolences may be posted at www.homelanimemorialpark.com.

He is survived by sister, Lois (Paul) Midthun of Lansing, Mich.; numerous nieces, nephews and extended ohana.

Edward Bufil Sr.

Edward “Eddie” Edwaldo Bufil Sr., 81, of Honomu died Dec. 7, 2015, at home. Born Dec. 21, 1933, in Honohina Mauka, he was a retired maintenance factory worker for the former Hilo Coast Processing Co., a Korean War Army veteran and member of the Honomu Good Shepherd Mission.

Friends may call at 6 p.m. Dec. 22 at Dodo Mortuary chapel, Hilo, for a 7 p.m. service. Friends may also call at 8 a.m. Dec. 23 at Honomu Good Shepherd Mission for a 10 a.m. Mass. Burial follows at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Family requests casual attire be worn.

Dennis Suenobu

Dennis Yoshiharu Suenobu, 87, of Hilo died Dec. 7, 2015, at a private care home in Pahala. Born in Malama Puna, he was a retired elementary school teacher at Keonepoko Elementary School and a fruit farmer, member of the Hilo United Methodist Church and its Peanut Butter Ministry, Hawaii State Teachers Association, National Education Association and Habitat for Humanity.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Dec. 22 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 10:30 a.m. service. Burial will follow at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by brother, Yoshikazu (Joyce) Suenobu of Pahala; sisters, Anne Shino of Sandy, Utah, Carol Michiko Melim of Kona; numerous nieces and nephews.

Henry “Boxer” Sweetleimamo Evangelista Sr., 81, of Keaau died Dec. 9, 2015, at home. Born Feb. 28, 1934, in Honolulu, he was a self-employed painter.

Bruce Keigo Kawamura, 69, of Hilo died Dec. 7, 2015, at Hilo Medical Center. Born April 9, 1946, in Hilo, he was a civil engineer, proprietor of B.K. Inc. and member of Holona Golf Club.
